Finding the perfect moisturizer is often a matter of personal choice. The scent, the consistency even the price are often the parameters by which we make our final choice.
That said you can narrow down the playing field and get better at finding the right product for your skin type if you follow a few simple guidelines.
According to Dr. Doris Day, a dermatologist from NYU-Langone Medical Center, and author of "You Don't Need A Face Lift", here's a few skin-type specific suggestions that can help.
1. For Combination Skin: Your best ingredients include botanicals, hyaluronic acid, vitamins A, C and B, and pentapeptides.
2. For Sensitive Skin: Look for ingredients like shea butter, hyaluronic acid, or pentapeptide which offer moisture without irritation.
3. For Oily And Acne-Prone Skin: Check the label for ingredients like dimethicone, salicyic acid, tea tree oil and vitamins A and C. You want to moisturizer without adding extra oil or clogging pores.
What else do you need to know? Excess oil doesn't mean you don't need moisture. A good moisturizer will help capture and trap water in skin cells, and not add a greasy layer of oil to your skin.
